Arboair - working for sustainable forestry

How can an industry adjust to a more sustainable industry? How can the forestry adapt to a precision forestry to meet future needs and challanges? We at Arboair has decided to try and meet these needs.

The forest industry is a large industry in Sweden and the rest of the world, where a healthy forest without injuries is crucial to the profitability of forest owners. Today, the two biggest problems in the forest industry are wind traps and bark beetle attacks. The bark beetle is the insect that causes the greatest damage to forests today in Sweden, with a limited number of natural enemies, the cost of bark beetle attacks ended in 2019 at a level of about SEK 4 billion for the industry.

We have been in dialogue with forest managers and business developers at Södra, Sveaskog, Stora Enso, Holmen and the Swedish Forest Agency. After following forest owners in their work, we have gained insight that forest managers and forest inspectors have large areas to deal with and that they need innovative solutions to quickly and safely identify these problems to prevent and remedy them in order to achieve profitable forestry and a sustainable forest.
