#MeToo Smart Ring

#MeToo Smart Ring is a set of mobile app and wearable ring that help women to stay safe from sexual assault and bring perpetrators to justice. It can be used in grey area, and when women can’t decide when to fight or what action to take. It only requires women to do a micro-movement to activate the functions, hence even during the ‘freeze up' state, women can activate easily.

It can be used in all three phases of sexual assault.

1. When it is about to happen, #MeToo Smart Ring provide functions to prevent the assault, distract perpetrators and get ‘excuse’ to leave the scene.
2. If it cannot be avoided, during the assault, #MeToo Smart Ring can be used to seek help from trusted persons and nearby authorities, collect evidence and location and make distractions to prevent victims from further dangers.
3. After the assault, victims can use evidence that has been collected to bring the perpetrators to justice. All evidence will be stored not only in the smart phone, but also in the cloud that equipped with high security system to prevent deletion even under threat.

#MeToo Ring Project was first started in January 2018, when brainstorming ideas for #MeToo hackathon in Gothenburg. It was then developed and currently the basic prototype has been done. The app and services will be provided for free and the smart ring will be sold in very affordable price, so that all women no matter their socio-economic background can have it and stay safe.
