BUMI: Next stop, Earth! - Embark on an out of this world planet-saving adventure!

Our earth is turning into a giant landfill and we battle a huge climate crisis. Reports shows that we only have about 10 years to make a U-turn in climate sustainability if we don't want to significantly worsen the risk of more drought, floods, extreme heat, animal extinction and poverty for hundreds of millions of people. Bumi is our intervention. With our mobile game, we aim to increase interest and educate children and inspire youths (the future decision makers) on how to take care of our planet, why it is so important and to encourage their inventive thinking towards climate friendly solutions. In the game, players meet several alien characters who have barely escaped their home planet, which was destroyed from environmental destruction. They see Earth from afar looking green, blue and lush. But as they get closer, they see that we are also on our way to make the same mistakes as them. They decide to make it their mission to help restore this planet’s beauty before we meet the same fate as them. Players will be taught, amongst others, the correct methods of waste management, the outcomes of recycling, the positives of renewable energy, how they can help fight animal extinction and more. Our built-in photo and video mode will also enable players to encourage participation from friends and family by sharing not only their progress, but fun pictures and videos taken with their new alien friends as they embark on their planet-saving adventure.

Environmental awareness is growing, but due to lack of knowledge, many do not realise how their day-to-day actions can make all the difference - both good and bad. Our game BUMI will inspire to more innovative, green thinking. It will also enable players to directly make an impact towards the environment, and it starts as soon as they purchase the game - with proceeds going to organizations that work with environmental restoration. The gameplay itself enables players to learn and understand everything surrounding better care for the environment. From the basic waste separation, to why deforestation leaves such a negative impact as well as showcasing special environmental solutions being used in different places around earth. Because our game will be language free and easy to use in any part of the world, it also makes sharing new innovative methods a cool thing - like the Swedish pant for example!

When it comes to competitors, we can see that the interest in this theme exists. But most of these games are simpler games that are built for an even younger audience. Certain games, despite being very basic and simple, have up to 50 000+ downloads. This shows that there is definitely a growing demand for environmental-themed games. Bumi will stand out as it will keep players occupied with multiple minigames and activities about all kinds of environmental subjects as well as special events during climate themed days with new things happening in the game. It will be an integration of gamification and interactive features, building players that are keen on making an environmental movement.
