FiBu: a sustainable inner packaging alternative

Plastic packaging sector is a major contributor to the plastic pollution which is a global challenge with serious environmental concerns and economic impacts. In response to this problem and in order to be part of the solution, we have developed a wood fiber foam for inner packaging applications. The developed bio-based foam is 100% renewable, biodegradable, recyclable, and even reusable. By replacing plastic counterparts, our bio-based foam has a great impact in reducing plastic waste and greenhouse gas emissions. Thanks to the unique internal structure of the foam, it offers a high protection and cushioning for encompassed goods. The foam is resilient and durable under compression. It is a good absorbent for moisture, noise and mechanical shock. Its antistatic property makes it an ultimate choice for packaging electronic devices. The bio-based foam is an appealing material with a natural feeling and softness, and it smells like wood. It also has a long shelf life (+3 years).
