Novel functional foods based on Baobab fruit

    The increased consumer health awareness is matched with an increasing demand for healthier food alternatives, which set pressure on food industries to create nutritionally attractive products to fulfil the consumer’s demands. The baobab fruit is naturally dried, with remarkable nutritional properties, due to a high content of soluble fibre and high antioxidant capacity. Baobab was named by EFSA in 2008 Novel fruit in Europe due to its nutritional values. According to a recent survey, 1 in 10 Swedes are vegan/vegetarian (Djurens Rätt, 2014), why there is an increased demand of plant-based foods.

    Our competitive advantage is that we have a unique ingredient (characteristic nutritional values and physiochemical properties) and an innovative production technology, which gives our beverages competitive advantage. In addition to the sauces that are based on the highly nutritious baobab fruit, unlike what is currently in the market that is starch based. We are thus serving major consumers demands.
