ReLi manufactures sustainable and affordable energy storage solutions for solar PV homeowners by upcycling retired EV batteries.
Why? Small-scale local energy storage is an increasingly important component of a smart grid, especially in Europe, where Feed-In-Tariff systems are coming to an end. However, new batteries are expensive and unsustainable both in terms of production processes and needed materials, making them unattractive to homeowners.
ReLi solves this by upcycling retired EV batteries for a second life, thereby offering a more affordable alternative and simultaneously promoting a more sustainable, circular economy.
Here’s how it works. ReLi takes retired EV batteries - which usually still retain 80% of their initial capacity - to dismantle them and test individual cells and modules. They are then assembled into a modular battery box, and an innovative Energy Management System (EMS) is applied to smartly manage the charging and discharging of the battery. The product can also be easily interconnected to provide different capacities depending on the home’s specifications. Finally, it is sold to solar PV homeowners as well as solar PV installers/retrofitters.
Choosing ReLi over a brand new battery means a reduction in CO2 emissions of 40%!
