The agricultural industry has been one of the most influential industries throughout all of history. Without the rise of agriculture over twelve thousand years ago humankind would never have come as far as we have today.
Despite how important the agricultural sector is, the fact that it’s rather inefficient remains true till this day, many the agricultural prosperity in many areas of the world is now also being threatened by global warming.
The reason for so many areas being threatened by rising temperatures is that the agricultural infrastructure and protocols surrounding them weren't designed to deal with higher temperatures.
We want to help farmers by providing the with the infrastructure and equipment they need to better manage their farms in ways that are more sustainable and efficient. We also want farmers to be able to manage their farms in such a way that the negative effects that higher temperatures may have on crops is greatly diminished.
We plan on doing this with the help of machine learning algorithms that we are currently developing and then combining these algorithms with data gathered from Arduinos with different sensors dispersed across the farmers field. We also plan on implementing drones if not small balloons as a way of gathering data ion crops. The date and the results provided by the algorithms will then all be available on a terminal that the farmer can access.
Our goal is that every farmer should have access to a terminal that has real time data on their crops and the wellbeing of their farm. The data and output of the algoritms will allow farmers to distribute resource such as fertilizer, water, pesticide in a manner that maximizes crop yields and that is not wasteful. We are also looking for ways we can further expand our platform to accommodate for the automation of many operations carried out on farms based on gathered data.
