A chance for startups and innovators to win up to 100 000 SEK!

This competition aims to find ideas and disruptive innovations to reduce fresh water consumption in food production. Organizers are Venture Cup together with Innovation Skåne and WIN. The competition is financed and supported by Microsoft, as part of the Microsoft Community Environmental Sustainability Program. Please submit your idea in english!

Food production requires a lot of water, globally it accounts for the use of about 70% of all fresh water. But fresh water is a limited resource and even a scarcity - on a global level as well as on a regional level in Skåne. Taking into account that Skåne is the origin to 50% of all food produced in Sweden, and 70% of all the fruits and vegetables, water is one of the challenges to a future sustainable food system. And this is the competition where you can help address this regional and global challenge!

How?

To participate in the competition you have to Describe your idea with the help of a pitch deck with the maximum of 13 slides (required) Read more about pitch deck here Example Pitch deck

How do I compete?

• Max 1000 word description of idea and/or
• 4 min video pitch
• 3 pictures
• Pitch deck with no more than 13 slides

When? Nov 2 to March 15. Remember that you can make changes to your contribution all the way up to the deadline!

Who? All startups and innovators are welcome to compete as long as you fit into the following criteria:

• Have a scalable and innovative idea on how to reduce or make the water consumption in food production more effective
• Compete with your own idea
• The turnover as well as the external equity capital does not exceed 3 000 000 SEK at the time of the submission to the contest
• The idea must in some way affect water scarcity connected to food production in Skåne.

After the submission you are welcome to continue working with the business idea, sales and any type of investments.Venture Cup does not support any ideas that do not follow Swedish legislations and we reserve the right to disqualify any idea that does not support the Swedish law and regulations.

NOTE: you can choose what parts of your idea that are open to the community (public) and what parts you only wish the jury (who have signed NDAs) can see.

What? After the deadline a screening jury will go through all submitted ideas. The ten best ideas will be nominated and meet with the jury. The nominated teams will then pitch their business ideas in front of the jury who will choose the winners. Three companies will win 100 000 SEK each! All the nominated teams will be invited to join Win Water innovation platform as innovation companies. As an innovation company in WIN Water you will get access to the recurrent WIN meetings and special invitation to events and fairs. More info on Link
